Box Kit from Emory University Class

This walnut octagonal box kit (approx. 9" W x 8" D x 4" H), as shown above, is the same box my students assemble in class.  The kit is ready for assembly and finishing and comes with a detailed assembly/finishing booklet of 7 pages with 8 photographs.  The inside surfaces of the box body (the 8 wall pieces and the floor) are pre-finished with hand-rubbed lacquer.  I do this because finishing the inside of a box once it is glued together is VERY difficult.  The walls are 1/2" thick and the lid is 5/8" thick all of  Black Walnut and the floor is 1/4" thick Baltic Birch plywood.  This box is suitable for many uses including jewelry, keepsake, or interior decorating accessory.  It would also make a great gift!  I find folks especially appreciative of personal hand-made gifts.  I remind the students to not forget to autograph and date the bottom!  The kit sells for $55 plus S&H and applicable taxes.  See the "Ordering" page how to order.

Box Kit from Coopering Class

Over the past few years I have taught  one-day classes on coopering at Highland Hardware in Atlanta, Georgia.  In the class the students learn the coopering technique I have developed (that uses a table saw) and complete a Mahogany oval gift box (approximately 5" W x 3 1/2" D x 3 1/2" H ready for finishing.  I am considering offering this box as a kit of pre-machined parts for about $40 if I receive enough requests.  Click this here for email address if you are interested.
