Relay For Life Sweetheart Puzzle Box
Just imagine the look of surprise
and delight on your sweetheart’s face
when she/he discovers this little treasure of a gift! Not only will
she/he love to own such an heirloom keepsake, but you will know you
have done a truly good deed because you received this as a thanks
for making a contribution of at least $250 to the Relay For Life
fund raiser of The American Cancer Society. I created this design
(with valuable ideas from my loving wife) expressly for this charity
drive to encourage kind folks to make contributions to such a worthy
cause. It works like this: you write a check, payable to The American
Cancer Society, give it to me and I give you a box as my thank you!
Oh! Speaking of surprises, it’s called a "puzzle" box
because you can’t open the lid unless you know how to unlock it!
Of course the purchaser is given that little secret. Everyone who
has handled one of these boxes has found the puzzle locking lid to
be a genuine treat in the box. The hearts and the boarder frame
around the top and bottom are Red Bloodwood. The background of the
top and bottom is Russian Baltic Birch and the body of the box and
lid are American Black Walnut. The box is approximately 9" wide
by 7" deep by 3" high, weighs about 2 pounds, has a hand
rubbed lacquer finish and is lined with red velveteen. Contrary to
the usual practice of running the wood grain vertically when making
hearts of wood, I chose to run the grain horizontally to suggest the
flow of love between the two hearts.
