Stellar Rouge

A breathtaking marriage of South American Bloodwood and African solid black Ebony adorned with silver, this piece is a horizontally coopered oval with starburst ends standing on solid Ebony feet with pure silver inlays and an Ebony handle with sterling silver inlay.

At 15 inches wide, 8 inches deep and 10 inches high this is a substantial work which is surprisingly heavy due to the very dense nature of the Bloodwood.

Opened, one will note that the parting between the body and lid slopes up from the front to the rear.  This allows better utilization of the interior volume while giving the lid pleasing proportions to the body.

There is an articulated tray that follows the lid when it is opened and a larger lift-out tray that sits on rails in the body.  Both trays are embellished with various Ebony accents on their perimeters

The trays and the body below the tray rails are lined with kid glove leather.  In addition to the silver inlays mentioned above all of the solid brass hardware (hinges, screws and tray swing arms) are silver plated presenting only red, black, and silver to the observer from any view point.

It is envisioned this piece will be placed upon furniture out in a room where all sides would be visible so the back, with its silver plated hinges is intended to be as attractive as the front.  Details.  I care immensely about the details of my work.
